Texoma Regional Blood Center is Hiring a Phlebotomist Near Sherman, TX

Texoma Regional Blood Center in Sherman, TX is looking for one phlebotomist to join our 23-person strong team. We are located at 3911 Texoma Pkwy. Our ideal candidate is a self-starter, punctual, and engaged.

Responsibilities

The primary responsibility of a phlebotomist is to perform all necessary duties required to screen and collect donor blood from volunteer donors. The phlebotomist will work under the direction of the Phlebotomy/Donor Room Lead Supervisor and the Mobile Phlebotomy Supervisor. The individual will work significantly irregular hours involving constant contact with donors, staff, and the general public.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Duties and Responsibilities include the following; other duties may be assigned. Management retains the discretion to add to or change the duties of the position at any time.

Performs interviewing of donors, pre-donation screening, venipuncture, and post-venipuncture care of donors as directed in the Texoma Regional Blood Center’s Standard Operating Procedures.

    *Must be trained and have the ability to manage care for donors that have mild, moderate, and severe reactions. *Assumes the responsibility for neatness and cleanliness of the donor room, mobile blood drives, and mobile vehicles. *Must be able to work well in a team environment and maintain a positive attitude. *Must be very accurate and meticulous with all work performed. *Will be required to stand, sit, lift, and also travel to and from the center and mobile sites. *It is required to keep all protected donor medical information confidential. *Assists with the pre-departure preparation of the mobile unit. *Assists with the unloading, set-up, breakdown, and reloading of the portable equipment. *Must maintain all equipment in good working order and report any broken equipment to the Phlebotomy/Donor Room Lead Supervisor or Mobile Phlebotomy Supervisor. *Must perform and document accurate records of Quality Control on hemoglobin machines, blood bag weight scales, and other equipment used in the Donor Room and Mobile Blood Drives. *Must be well informed of Texoma Regional Blood Center’s Standard Operating Procedures and Personnel Policies and support those policies and procedures. *Assist with telephone and on-location recruiting as needed or assigned. *Must be computer literate in all functions relating to job requirements.


Qualifications

  • Phlebotomy certification with related venipuncture experience is preferred. Completion of Texoma Regional Blood Center’s phlebotomy training programs is required. Must be CPR certified. Dependability, punctuality, effective communication skills, and the ability to maintain a positive attitude towards donors and other staff, willingness to work and take the initiative in fulfilling their supervised duties required.

Available shifts and compensation: We have available shifts all days of the week. Compensation is $13.50/hour.
